Make a difference for South Carolina. Help us preserve our heritage.
Did you know that for every day archaeologists spend in the field they spend about a week in the laboratory washing, sorting and analyzing the artifacts that they uncover? The laboratory component of archaeology is where the story of the past starts to come together as archaeologists analyze artifacts and add to our collective human history. Now you can help the SCDNR Archaeology team as a laboratory volunteer!
Did you want to be an archaeologist as a kid? Are you a student and want to find out what archaeology is all about? Looking for a unique opportunity to volunteer in the community? Join the growing list of dedicated Cultural Heritage Trust volunteers and help the SCDNR Cultural Heritage Trust team preserve our shared cultural heritage.
Volunteers have been an essential part of the SCDNR Cultural Heritage Trust program for over 20 years. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds help us excavate archaeological site, process artifacts in the laboratory, and even manage hiking trails.
